2018 WV Wing Encampment

Maj Sixto Velez

The West Virginia Wing will be conducting its 2018 Cadet Summer Encampment from July 7th- July, 14th, at Camp Dawson, WV.  Camp Dawson which is located in Kingwood, WV, is the training base for the West Virginia National Guard and Army Special Forces.  The base provides lots of interesting activities and tours for the participants.

Applications for the encampment must be made on the Application for Encampment or Special Activity (CAPF-31).  In addition, applicants must also submit Medical Information Forms (CAPF-160, 161, and 163), an Air Transportation Agreement Form (DD-1381), along with a check or money order for the encampment fee.   Cadets under the age of 18 years cannot sign the DD-1381 form.  It must be signed by a parent or guardian.

The cost for this year’s encampment is $75 for WV cadets and $200 for out of wing cadets.

Applications for the encampment must be received NLT June 16th.

We are in the process of setting up the schedule of activities for the encampment.  If all goes well, we will have the rappelling tower, the Leadership Development Course, and the firing range on the schedule again this year.  This is addition to the land and water survival courses, the climbing wall, confidence course, Black Hawk helicopter o-rides, C130 o-rides, and other outstanding training activities that are normally conducted.

We will use the WV Wing Facebook Page for the Encampment information and will post photos and announcements on that page during the encampment week.

Cadets must have a current membership card to attend the encampment and will report to the encampment with a proper haircut.  Cadets are not allowed to bring cell phones, laptop computers, or iPads/tablets to the encampment.
